Home!

I'm home!!!! I flew home Wednesday and slept in my own bed!!! Yeah! I got sick and haven't felt the best the last couple of days but I'd rather be feeling puny at home than at school....

Last night as one of the family Christmas gifts, my parents took the family out to see the Bar J Wranglers, as pictured below....

They sang many different Christmas songs, including 'Winter Wonderland,' Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer' (cowboy style!), 'Let It Snow,' as well as 'Mary Did You Know,' and 'O Holy Night.' They did a very good job of honoring our military personel that were in attendance. They also gave Christ the honor and glory of being the true reason and meaning of Christmas.

As part of a western type of family, I greatly enjoyed the yoodlin' and such! =)

They guy in the light blue shirt (Donnie Cook) is a master at the banjo, the steel guitar, flat-top guitar, and dobro. All the guys did a great job last night!
Well, I think that's all for now... my room looks like a tornado attacked... again! I've only been home 3 1/2 days!!! Not good! =)

Ty's Wedding

My cousin Ty got married on November 28 on the beach in San Diego!
Here are some pictures of him and Mary.

(Aren't they cute??!!)
Congratulations, Ty and Mary! Welcome to the family!!!

Thanksgiving Break Picts!!!

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a marvelous Thanksgiving. I sure did because I got to fly out to Colorado and spend it with my family! We went out to my grandparent's home in Kit Carson, CO (waaayyyyy out east in CO). Here are a couple pictures from the trip:

All the kids with Nana, my mom's mom. I was still in CA at this point, thus why I am not in the picture with the rest of the kids. lol

Okay, check this out. This picture is from this Thanksgiving, 2009.

This picture is from Thanksgiving of 2005. We've changed and grown up a bit, huh? =)

Rise and Randall (my cousin and her husband) had a baby girl a year ago and I got to see her for the first time at Thanksgiving. Little Aubrey is soooo sweet!!!!

(Okay, she's making a weird face in this particular picture but she had an adorable smile)

Well, that's all the pictures for now. Later!

Busy in Windy California

Hey everyone!

Things have been going pretty good. I am working four days a week with Autism Response Team (ART), which is a different agency than the company that I was working for last year. (California Psych Care) These kids are just higher functioning and have less behavior problems. =) (I like that part!) It is going very well.

I am also working blue crew (cleaning crew!) on Saturdays which is fun. I have gotten to know new people through that.

Parks is also going well. We have a couple families from our parks ministry coming to Round Up Sunday tomorrow which is such a blessing! We have had one parent saved (a week or so ago) and today one of the college guys went through the plan of salvation with a teen. He didn't want to respond to it so pray for him (named Louis).

Other than that, things are going as normal. Midterms are coming up here soon, which is crazy because it doesn't feel like half the semester is over already.

Gotta run. Later

Wellsville Rodeo

Joey and his cute face (lol)

Joey caught a chicken!
Joey holding his prize. Good job Joey!!!
Let me explain some of these photos. My family went to the Wellsville Rodeo a couple days ago and had a good time. This is the first time that the kids have ever participated in a rodeo and they did great!
Juan tried roping a goat with a lasso. Go Juan!
Maria was in the calf riding contest. She held on for the full 8 seconds - for those of you that are unfamiliar with rodeos, 8 seconds is the length of time you strive to hold on for when bull riding, bronco riding, sheep riding, calf riding, ect. She did an excellent job!
Joey was in the mutton bustin'. That is basically when you put innocent little kids, who probably don't know any better, on sheep and see how long they hold on. =) It is so much fun to watch. We went to the Logan rodeo and most of the kids were standing in line with their moms holding them while they cried after they were done. I know, I know, it sounds mean, but it is so cute. Joey apparently got pitched pretty quick once exiting the shoots.
After that, he participated in a chicken chase and caught a chicken (as you can see him above, holding his prize high).
*Those poor, poor, innocent chicken.... lol*
Anyway, thought you all would enjoy that!

Hello from Sunny California!

hello everyone!

I am back at West Coast beginning my sophomore year of Bible college. Classes (the one day of them that I have had anyway) have gone well. This year I am taking Pastor's Wife, Child Development, Romans, Daniel & Revelation, Philosophy of Christian Education, Life of Christ, Choir, and Christian Womanhood. Dan&Rev and Romans are both going to be intense classes I think, but I (think!) am ready for the challenge! lol =)

(Check on me in a couple weeks and see if I am saying the same thing. I am reading the book of Romans 15 times and outlining Dan&Rev verses by verse! Those are only two of the projects I have this semester!)

So, want to hear how my drive out to CA went????

WELL..... my parents allowed me the privilege of driving out by myself this semester. It is a 10 hour drive, give or take - I made it in 12..... how, do you ask, did that happen?

The drive through the middle of Utah was kinda boring - pretty flat and not much to look at - and I got sleepy a couple times(it was warm too), but it was okay. I got to the south and things got much prettier, especially around the Moab and Bryce Canyon areas. Then I slipped through a tiny piece of Arizona, which was also very pretty, before entering into Nevada. At my first glance around in NV, I thought that the drive would be much easier because of the scenery.... PSYCH! (lol or just kidding) It became very flat - again. lol

The real adventure began when my car over heated about 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas. I called my dad and he told me to roll my windows down, turn the heater on, and pull over at the next exit.

The next exit was about a mile away and when I turned off, I was looking at a medium size building. I later found out that it held the gas station, a truckers' lounge, an Indian style restraunt, a general store, and a casino. I found a security guard who was able to help me with my car and he had me wait for about an hour so that my car could cool down a bit. He didn't want it blowing up in our faces when checking the radiator and whatever else he was going to check (I am NOT car - literate!)

So I hung out a while. Apparently the guard thought I was at least 21 because he told me that I was welcome to the casino in the back (weird, I know).

After about an hour, he (I'm sorry - his name is Eric) came back and we went out to go check my car. I didn't loose any radiator fluid (which is surprising, I guess) so he said to continue on to Vegas and to stop if I had anymore issues. He also asked me to turn the car on just to make sure it all sounded good. I put my purse into the car and came back out with a tract. We talked for a few minutes and it turns out that he goes to a Christian church on the reservation (his words, not mine - no idea what kind of church it is, but he took the tract). We said our good-byes and he walked back into the building. I turned to my car to open the door that I had shut after getting the tract. Guess what I found out?????

Yep, I locked my keys in the car......it's really embarrasing, but I did it. My car was running and the heater was still going from earlier. I hadn't cried up until this point but I was now. (Cry baby or not, I was annoyed with myself) I called my parents and my dad said to go back and get the security guard to come back and let me back in. Thankfully, my dad had told me to roll the windows down earlier, so Eric was able to open my door. I left soon thereafter before anything else could happen.

Dad said I would be laughing in 30 minutes after it was over (he told me this while I was crying on the phone). It wasn't 30 minutes later, but I do laugh about it now. (So do my friends....)

Well, that was the exciting part of the trip. My car is fine and hasn't overheated since. We think it happened because it was about 115 degrees and I had my AC running. Who knows. If anything, I have a good laugh-at-Kaitie story that will be used for illustrations in the future.

I did make it to Victorville, where I spent the rest of the weekend with some family friends.

Well, got to run, but I will blog more later. Night

School Starts Soon!

Hey everyone!

Well, for those of you who don't know, my parents went to Washington D.C. for a long weekend as part of a business trip that Dad had. Talked to them tonight as they were standing on the grounds near the Lincoln Memorial. I think it would be so neat to go visit D.C. and to see all of the historical sites that are dedicated to those in the history of this great country. I told Mom that it sounded like she was having too much fun and that I was very jealous!!! ;) lol

Well, as far as school, my first day is August 31! I talked to my old job with California Psych Care today and they are hiring me back on again which is great! I have also signed on with Usborn Books. You know those Mary Kay parties? Or Scencey? Well this is along the same lines, just with books! Which, frankly, I think is a lot better, and being such a book lover and avid reader myself, a lot more fun! The neat thing about that is that I am a consultant for the rest of my life and I can back off of it if things get too crazy for me.

Please pray for me. I have a lot going on and a lot of decisions to make. Life is just crazy!!!

Well, I gotta get up early in the morning so I will post again later. When my parents return, I will post D.C. pictures that they brought home!

Night =)

End of the Summer.... Already?

Wow, this summer really flew by fast! I am starting to understand what adults mean when they said that time flys faster the older you get. I will soon be looking back on 20 years and it seems to have gone by quick.

I am heading back to school at the end of the month. Please pray for me. I have several decisions to makes concerning jobs and such. I am very excited to get back to school and the schedule of things there. I will miss my family though!

Tomorrow will be the 2 month anniversary of my Grandpa's death. I still think of him often. Not to seem weird or morbid, but has gotten me thinking. He wasn't ready to die - he wanted to keep living. Yet his body was done. I don't know how long my body (or mind!) will last. God knows what He's doing and all I can do is try to get back to where he wants me and quit wandering off!

Well, I gotta go for now. Just wanted to let you all know what was going on with me!

Funny

Okay guys, just a little comic I thought was funny and wanted to share the laugh! lol :)

Summer Update

Hey everyone! Hope your summers are going well. I have had a blast this past week. We had two guys from West Coast, Chris and Josiah come out. They helped my pastor out with door knocking and physical labor around the church property. They also hung out with us quite a bit towards the end of the week:

On Friday, July 3rd, we had a group of people come out to the house for a BBQ before heading out to town to watch the fireworks. We played volleyball for a quite a while.

Saturday, July 4th, we headed over to a church members' home for another BBQ and several more hours of volleyball! And for my hard work, I received a whopping big sun burn!!!! AHHH!!! But that's okay.... I'm hoping that it will turn into a tan (somewhat anyway....)

Sunday after church, we had the guys and our Pastor and wife over for lunch. We had some more fellowship (and hamburgers!) After church, a group of us headed over to some sand volleyball courts and played until we couldn't see the ball anymore. We then headed to McDonalds for some ice cream. We had a pretty good time.
Overall, I am pumped to play some more volleyball!..... Okay, maybe after my arms have a chance to rest up! lol Have a great day!

I Got a Job!

Hey everyone! How's the summer going?

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have landed a job with Avalanche Systems. Here's the lowdown: I work from home or where ever, I work as many hours as I want (after the required amount), and I can take this job with me back to school! Isn't that awesome! God is good!

Another blessing is that my Grandma and Grandpa Schallenberger are out to visit. We will enjoy having them for a few days.

Night!

Home Sweet Home

I must say that no matter where you go in the world, it is always nice to be back at home again. We left for Colorado Saturday, June 6th and just got back late last night around 11 pm. This trip has proven to be pretty interesting as V went in to the ER early Sunday morning and had her appendix removed around noon that day! Crazy huh? Pray for her as she recovers. =)

The funeral for my Grandpa was on last Tuesday and it went smoothly. It was hard to say good-bye but we did it. We got to see a lot of family and friends that we haven't seen in quite a while, so that part was nice.

Now that we are back home, I am on kid duty and looking for work. I need to earn a lot of money before the fall in order to go back to school. I am waiting on shifts at Firehouse Pizzeria where I worked my senior year. I am also looking into other positions that I hear about.

Well, that's all for now.

Prayer Please

Hey everyone. I am sorry to report that my grandpa passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009. I believe that he passed without pain and that was the best thing. We are trusting God that he made a decision for Christ before he passed. Leaving it in God's hands is the best thing. Please pray for us as we travel back to Colorado to for the funeral. Thank you so much for your prayers. I will update when I get back!

Back Again

Well, I flew back to Utah today after spending a couple days in Colorado with my mom visiting my Grandpa. Please continue to pray for him. He is not doing very well at all and they (hospital) are making him comfortable. We believe this may be the end, but only God knows for sure. Mom stayed there to be with him and take care of things for him. I am here holding the fort =) I will post pictures later. Right now us kids are getting ready to watch Pirates of the Carribbean =) Good night!

Flying to Colorado

Please pray for my mom and I this weekend. We are flying out of SLC tomorrow morning and heading out to CO to see my grandpa (her dad). He is not doing very well as far as his health is concerned and we are unsure of his spiritual condition. Please pray that God will open up his heart to the Gospel.

I am also looking forward to visting a couple friends while I am out as well.

Summer has officially begun for my siblings and mom as well by the way. They are very happy about that. It's actually kind of funny.... before, when we were going to the public schools or Immanuel Lutheran, Mom loved the beginning of school... now that she is teaching the kids, she is excited about the END of school! Funny how that works, huh?

Have a great day everyone!

Monday, May 25, 2009

Hello

Well, I have officially been home for a little over a week. I have babysat a couple times, which has been a lot of fun =) I have been rehired by Firehouse, which is a pizzeria that I was working for before I left for school, which is a huge blessing! Thank you Lord!

Other than that, things have been pretty casual. We cleaned out our garage the other day, or at least some of it! We are changing bedrooms around in the next couple of weeks, which ought to be fun. I am officially loosing my room! Being in college for 8 out of the 12 months of the year qualifies for room disapearance! lol I don't mind though. I will be sharing with Maria during the summer months and over Christmas. She was my roommate for about 5 years before we moved to Utah and I got my own room. We get along really well and have a lot of fun together. It is even cooler because she is excited about it!

Everyone, please pray for my Grandpa. He isn't exactly doing the best health wise and is in the hospital. We are not sure if he has ever trusted Christ as his Saviour, so that is the biggest concern that we have. Please pray for his salvation and recovery. However, if he is to go, I pray that God would be taking him to Heaven because he got saved.

Well, it is late. Later!

I'm Home!

So we pulled in to the driveway at about 7:45 AM today! Whoo! It was quite the drive. We left Fresno around 4 pm, stopped for an hour for dinner, and spent pretty much the rest of the time driving! 4pm to 7 am (taking out the hour for dinner) is 16 hours! Da gum! (Mator off of the movie Cars)I was awake through out the naps, minus a few couple hour naps. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that I made it home! I'm tired as I didn't take a nap today, so I am off to bed. Good night!

btw I didn't take that picture, but isn't it pretty?

The Beach

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I am officially done with my first year of Bible college! My summer has now begun and I am in Laguna Hills right now staying with some friends.
Today we went to the beach. It was a little over cast, but it was still very, very pretty. Here are some pictures.
Here is all of us girls. They are all sisters that I knew back when we were living in Colorado.

Here is Rachelle and I.

I'm..Almost..There!

There are only 6 days left until school is out! I am almost done with my first year of college! We get out Wednesday and I'm heading to Victorville to visit the Canchola's. Then I head up to Laguna Hills to visit the Hogg family and spend a couple days with them. Dad and some guys from our church are going to the Master's Men Conference in Fresno, CA on Friday and Saturday and I will be meeting them after that is all done. Then we head home! I am soooo excited to see my family! I have ONE more final to study for... Orientation to Teaching. So I will catch up with you all later. =)

Almost there!

Hey everyone! Only 12 more days until school is out! It has been crazy! I am really excited about coming home and seeing the family. Joey lost his two front top teeth and my mom sent me a couple pictures. He is soo cute! And all the kids are definitely growing up! I can't wait to get home. Things are wrapping up here and I will be back in a jiffy! Well, I will write more later... a friend went out and bought some Panda Express and I am hungry! Later! I have some teacher jokes that I will post later. Love you all.

Counting Down! 22 Days Left!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. Things have been pretty crazy around here. It seems like everything has been going on!
You know how when you drop a marble or a penny on the side of a large funnel (come on, you all know what I mean and you have done it too! You see them in museums and zoos sometimes) how the closer to the bottom the penny gets, the faster it goes? It started out nice and slow and slowly went faster and faster until it is spinning like crazy at the bottom. Then it plops into whatever is underneath.
I'm feeling that the school year is like that. With only...wait, let me double check!...22 days left of school, things are starting to spin faster and faster! This happened last semester too, though. I'm thinking part of it is because I put things off and wait until the last minute! Bad Kaitie! =(
Anyway, things are going okay with the jobs. Actually the Census job is literally "going"... we are pretty much done with our job and I'm thinking that I will be officially done by the end of this week or maybe part of next, not completely sure yet.
Well, gotta run now. School awaits! Oh, joy..... =)

Back to the Crazy Life

Hey everyone! My spring vacation officially ends tomorrow, however, I am not heading back to school. I have been hired by the Census Bureau and am doing full day trainings for this new job that will start next week. Training started Friday and will end on Thursday, so I am taking class cuts for the next three days of school. Class cuts, for those who are unsure, are pretty much permission slips for missing school! lol This week is also the week of the Church Planters Conference here and so I am sad to miss that, as I hear it is very good, but it works out for me because classes are shorter. Thus, I will miss less! =) Things are going well here. I went to Chinatown on Wednesday with a couple of friends and that was a lot of fun. I went down to a family friend's home on Friday for the weekend. I had a great time with the Canchola family. (Thank you Tom and Susan for hosting me and my friend Rebecca!) Well, gotta run for now. I am going with a friend to pick up her roommates from the airport tonight and, as usual, I have stuff I need to get done first! Chow!

Spring Vacation!

It's here.... Spring Vacation starts Monday after chapel and I am excited! I am spending the week here on campus and then the weekend with a family friend. Things are going okay here. I am dropping one of my cases for California Psych Care and picking up a job with the Census Bureau. I am planning on getting a lot of school work done during the break so that when I start working both jobs, I won't be as stressed with school.
The weather out here is gorgeous! I had the AC running and my car windows down yesterday when I was on my way to work. I was texting Mom and she said that it was 1 degree in Utah that morning! The temp had risen to about 35 degrees when she was talking to me that afternoon. Crazy! I gotta say that I am liking this California weather! lol
We are having an Andy Griffith night tonight at 7 so I gotta go get dinner eaten while I can. Later!

Four Day Weekend!!!!

Hey there! Time has been flying these last couple of weeks! Tomorrow begins the Fine Arts Competitions hosted by West Coast. The cool thing about that is that instead of classes, we just have to attend the chapels (I think) and help out in assigned areas for assigned times. For me, I help out Thursday 6:30pm-9 pm and Friday 9:30am-12pm. Not bad. This is going to be a nice break. Even though it is not completely off, I'm still thinking that this counts as a long weekend! Hallelujah! One more week of school after that (midterms week) and then we have spring vacation! I'm staying here for the actual week in order to work, rest, and work ahead on school stuff. However, I am going to the home of a friend of mine in Victorville for the weekend, possibly with friend of mine from school. I'm looking forward to that! It will be a nice break and a chance to get off campus for a few days. Things are going pretty well here. Work was a little crazy and stressful for about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, but I believe the majority of that issue is behind me. =) I cannot believe I have been back at school for 6 weeks already. This semester seems to be going by a lot faster than last semester. I go home in 10-11 weeks. Not quite half way there, but close. Well, I must fly. I have some stuff to get done before I head to work. Love you all. Later

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend serving the Lord! We had 13 kids show up for our parks program today and another team had one accept Christ! This is what the ministry is all about. Sincerely seeking Christ and then winning others to him. A friend and I were able to talk to a man named Mike today outside of the Dollar Tree. We went through the plan of salvation with him. Not sure if he is saved or not, but he said that he might come to the church sometime, so we will see. We did our part and now it is time for the Holy Spirit to do what He does best! lol Well, it's time for me to go work on that big pile of stuff that has been staring at me everytime I walk into my room! I love you all and hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day. I think that on this day that loving each other as brothers and sisters in Christ is just as important as love between a man and a woman. If the members of Christ's church are not in one accord concerning their love for one another, Christ, and the millions of lost souls around us, we are worthless to the cause of Christ. Something to think about today. Good night!

Patch the Pirate

Well, guess who is part of the Music Seminar here at school? Ron Hamilton, a.k.a. Patch the Pirate! I know not all of you will know who that is. He lost his eye to cancer years ago and began wearing an eye patch. A child made a comment that he looked like a pirate and he has since then, with God's grace and blessing, built a ministry which includes "The Adventures of Patch the Pirate." They are character building stories that emphasize the Christian life and the Bible. Okay guys, I am in college and I enjoy listening to them! lol Tonight there is going to be a choir practice with him leading and a concert tomorrow night! This is going to be fun. And he sounds just like the taps! lol I wonder if his wife will do her Sissy Seagull voice! lol Later

Prayer Request!

Hey everyone. I have a prayer request. I am having some frustrations with my job. Can't get too detailed, but please pray for wisdom among my authority there and for me. Sorry I can't be more specific, but if you could remember me, I would greatly appreciate it. =)

I must say, that I believe I have found a small group of solid potential friends and accountability partners. (Potential in the meaning that I am still getting to know them.) I just came out of a prayer meeting and I truely believe that most of those involved are serious about the things of God. I pray that I can continue in my walk and be as much of an encouragement to others as these brothers and sisters in Christ were to me tonight.

Hmmmm....

I got this website from a friend of mine and it is stock full of optical illusions, sayings, and little tidbits. I don't agree with all of the sayings but some of them were thought provoking. Here is the website and some of my favorites from the site... however I wasn't able to look at everything - the site has WAY too many for me to check out at one time! lol Enjoy!

Saturdays... Parks Team!

Hey everyone. I made it through my first two days of school! Whoo-hoo! lol Yesterday's classes included New Testament Survey, Orientation to Teaching, and Christian Womanhood. A little bit of a lighter schedule to finish off the week. I don't a third hour, which is nice, because it gives me a chance to catch my breath! =)

Part of WCBC is the fact that we go soul winning on Saturdays. We also each have a ministry that we help in. Last semester I worked in the Sunday School hour nursery for about 2 1/2 to 3 year old kids. Okay, I have never gone to a big enough church to have this many kids in one class, let alone the two year old nursery!!! One day we had 19 kids! Three workers, but still you don't see that very often...at least I never have! This semester, I have added a new ministry - Parks Team.

Parks Team is a program for kids that may not be able to ride the buses in the bus ministry or just have never had the opportunity to hear the Gospel. Today was the first day and we didn't really do much with the kids, but I did get a glimpse of what this is all about. We will encourage the kids to come play games with us and then there will be a message and these kids will hear how they can be saved. In fact, today, one of the team leaders led a teen to Christ! A couple of the guys just started playing basketball with these teens at the park and a couple hours later, the angels started to rejoice! Another soul saved! I am very excited and privileged to join this ministry and see God work!

Well, got to head out. We have a cook out today and a basketball game against another Bible college - Golden State! Go WCBC Eagles!! Later

Thursday, January 29, 2009

First Day of Classes

Well, today was the first day of classes. God is good... all my classes on Thursdays are in one building! lol Last semester, I had a couple days where I was walking across campus and that isn't always the greatest when you are in heels! Anyway, today I had Acts, Joshua, Micro Computer Skills, Chapel, English Comp, and Choir. Fun! I found out that I am the only freshmen in Joshua... probably because it is a junior level class!! haha didn't see that when I was picking classes! But I think it will be fine. It is a new teacher and he seems really nice. The project list isn't that bad either. =) I'm excited to see what I will learn this semester - both in the classroom and chapel. Well, I'm off to work. For those of you that don't know, I work for California Psych Care, which is a company that helps autistic children. A lot to learn, but it feels good to know that I am being used to help these children and their families. Later.

Back to School

Hey everyone! I am at college and am getting settled in and back into the regular routine...Trip blog entries and pictures to follow!

Just 'Sitting

Well, not much has been going on with me lately. The kids all started school up again. They all head to the church school, including Mom, and that leaves me at home.... the only one who DOESN'T have to go to school! Boo-yah! I have, however, been keeping busy, babysitting and such. =) I wasn't able to get my waitressing job back but God may have a good reason for that. One of which being that I am now available for a couple friends to go on dates while I watch their kids! lol

(I'm just kidding about the cartoon, Gina and Annette!!! lol)
Anyway, that's what's going on with me right now. I head back to school in the next couple of weeks as I have to be back to school the 24th. I am excited to get back to college because I am enjoying it so much. However, I have enjoyed being home with my family. =) That's all for now! See ya!
